As a Legal Counsel you will enable responsible, sustainable growth by embedding ethics and legal excellence into everyday decisions—so we can get the right medicines to patients, the right way.

The role:

You will provide business‑savvy legal counsel and drive a culture of integrity aligned to AstraZeneca values—follow the science, put patients first, do the right thing, and play to win the right way. Your support will span promotion and distribution of medicines, reimbursement processes, clinical research, competition law, data privacy, employment, contracts, and corporate affairs, among others. You will partner cross‑functionally to anticipate risk, unlock opportunities, and deliver simple, compliant solutions that accelerate our mission.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ethical leadership and culture: Actively promote and embed a culture of integrity, ethics, and compliance; champion “speak‑up” and non‑retaliation principles; translate laws and codes into practical ways of working.

  • Business partnering: Provide timely, pragmatic advice to Commercial, Market Access, Medical, Clinical, Supply, IT/Security, HR, and Finance and other relevant functions within One Poland Hub.

  • Risk management: Identify and prioritize legal risks; design and implement mitigations; support investigations and remediation where required; enable compliant innovation (including AI‑enabled processes) with human oversight and data protection safeguards.

  • Policy and governance: Co‑develop, implement, and monitor policies/SOPs; ensure consistent application of applicable laws (including pharmaceutical, reimbursement, competition, advertising, data privacy, employment, company law); support training and awareness.

  • Distribution and access: Advise on promotion, distribution models and agreements (including DTH/DTP), pricing and reimbursement dossiers, tenders, and interactions with external stakeholders; support ethical access strategies.

  • Contracts and transactions: Draft, review, and negotiate a range of agreements (e.g., promotional, services, clinical trial, distribution, confidentiality, digital/IT, HR); maintain clause libraries and playbooks; drive cycle‑time and quality improvements.

  • Reporting and insights: Produce high‑quality analyses and reports; track metrics on cycle time, training, and risk remediation; share insights to continuously improve ways of working.

About you:

  • A proactive, collaborative legal professional committed to doing the right thing and delivering with urgency and quality.

  • University degree in Law; bar qualification desirable.

  • At least 5 years of experience in a legal or compliance role within the pharmaceutical industry or at a law firm.

  • Solid knowledge of Polish pharmaceutical law, regulations, and industry codes (e.g., advertising/promotion, distribution, interactions with HCPs/HCOs), and proven practical application.

  • Exposure to clinical research agreements and governance, competition/antitrust, data privacy (GDPR), employment, and corporate/company law.

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

  • Recognized for business‑oriented judgment, clear communication, and the ability to influence and build trust across functions and levels.

  • Organised, accountable, and comfortable prioritising in a fast‑paced environment; balances detail with simplicity.

What you’ll bring (AZ values in action):

  • Patients first: You anchor advice in patient safety, ethical promotion, and responsible access.

  • Follow the science: You ground recommendations in evidence, data, and regulatory guidance; you’re curious about innovation, including digital and AI.

  • Do the right thing: You uphold transparency, speak up, and help others navigate grey areas with integrity.

  • Play to win the right way: You simplify, collaborate, and deliver results while safeguarding AZ’s reputation and licensee to operate.
